CAMPGROUNDS

Loft Mountain Campgrounds

Mile 79.5 – Amphitheater, Campground (with Trailer Sites), Campstore, Grocery, Laundry, Showers, Mail Drop, Picnic Area, Restrooms.

Lewis Mountain Campgrounds

Mile 57.5 – Picnic Area, Campground (with Trailer Sites), Cabins, Campstore, Camping Supplies, Groceries, Laundry/Showers, Mail Drop.

Big Meadows Campground

Mile 51.2 – All sites include a place for a tent or RV, a fire ring, and a picnic table. No electric hook-ups.

Matthews Arm Campground

Mile 22.1 – Campground (with Trailer Sites),  restrooms. Campsites are equipped with a picnic table, fire grate, and parking area. Electric and water hookups are not available.

Dundo Campground

Mile 83.7 – A small, beautiful campground located in the southern part of Shenandoah National Park that offers group campsites, only. The A.T. passes through the campground. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables.

Dining at Big Meadows Lodge

Feast your eyes on the scenic valley below, and savor a delicious meal of regional favorites like the Turkey Platter or Rainbow Trout.

Dining at Skyland

At the Skyland Pollock Dining Room, you’ll enjoy outstanding views of the Shenandoah Valley, and a menu to match.

Elkwallow Wayside

Purchase carryout food at this location. Groceries, camping supplies, restrooms, and picnic tables are also available.

Big Meadows Wayside

Choose this centrally located Wayside for carry-out food, groceries, and a large gift shop.

Loft Mountain Wayside

There is no inside food service available in 2021. Large gift shop, mail drop, restrooms.

Located in Waynesboro, VA. 24 miles from Staunton. 87 miles from Richmond.

Swift Run Gap Entrance

8 miles east of Elkton, 24 miles east of Harrisonburg.

Thornton Gap Entrance Station

9 miles east of Luray and 7 west of Sperryville.

Front Royal (North) Entrance Station

Accessible via I-66 and Route 340. 24 miles east of Winchester, VA and 72 miles west of Washington, D.C

Byrd Visitor Center

At the Byrd Visitor Center, you will learn about the park’s creation through movies and interactive exhibits.

Dickey Ridge Visitor Center

Open mid-April through November. Information desk, exhibits, bookstore, maps, backcountry permits, restrooms, recycling.
