Shenandoah National Park, VA – The Shenandoah National Park Association is proud to sponsor the 2015 Resource Seminars in Shenandoah National Park. These seminars provide participants with the opportunity to get to know their national park a little more personally through in-depth, hands-on experiences. The seminars will also highlight the upcoming centennial of the National Park Service in 2016 to celebrate national parks as places for inspiration, recreation, and renewal. Celebrate Shenandoah Through Photography Saturday, July 25, 2015
The Celebrate Shenandoah Through Photography seminar will introduce budding nature photographers to the basic methods and techniques that will help them capture their own personal nature experiences through photography of public lands in the national park. Professional photographers Ann and Rob Simpson will share their expertise through classroom instruction and field sessions on a variety of photography techniques including scenic, macro, and telephotography. This seminar is intended for ages 12 and up and space is limited to 25 participants.
Celebrate Shenandoah Through ArtSaturday August 15, 2015
The Celebrate Shenandoah Through Art seminar will provide a special opportunity to learn fun and easy ways to use journaling, sketching, and drawing to capture outdoor experiences through artistic expression. Instructors will present sessions during the day-long seminar on nature journaling, intimate landscapes –focusing on small wonders, and capturing the big view of scenic landscapes. This seminar is intended for the general public ages 12 and up and space is limited to 25 participants.
Birds of a Feather Fly South TogetherSaturday, September 19, 2015
The Birds of a Feather seminar will provide participants the opportunity to learn about the fall migration of many bird species that use the Blue Ridge Mountains as a major flyway south for the winter months. Special emphasis will be on hawks and other raptors and the important role that Shenandoah National Park and other public lands play as refuges for migrating birds. This seminar is intended for the general public ages 12 and up and space is limited to 25 participants.
