Night Skies in Shenandoah National Park

Big Meadows area (mile 51 on Skyline Drive). National Parks are becoming a refuge for people from city light pollution. Join amateur astronomers as they present a provocative presentation on controlling light pollution while they point out the heavenly stars.  Featuring PERSEID Meteor Shower, Saturn at 9:30 PM, Jupiter at 12:15 AM.

Telescopes provided but guests are also encouraged to bring their own binoculars for celestial viewing. An electronic scope projecting onto a screen will also be used that can show things that the eye can’t see. In color too! 

Held at the Rapidan Gate access road. A lawn chair and flash light is recommended. Free to all park visitors.
