Skyland, located at miles 41.7 and 42.5 on Skyline Drive, was founded in 1888 by George Freeman Pollock Jr. Mr. Pollock, who chose the perfect spot for his summer retreat at 3,680 feet, with breathtaking views of the Shenandoah Valley and cool mountain breezes. It encompasses 36 acres in Shenandoah National Park with 28 buildings situated on 16 of those acres along the crests and wooded areas.
Lodging includes cozy cabins, suites with fireplaces, newly renovated Premium rooms with AC, TV, luxury wood-laminated floors, and a patio or balcony affording views of the wooded forests or valley floor. A full service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The gift shop features a wide variety of Virginia made products, wine, children’s items and lots more. The Mountain Taproom features free nightly family friendly entertainment. Skyland is an ideal venue for a wedding, family reunion, meeting retreat and teambuilding events. Guided horseback rides depart daily from the stables.
ATM, mail drop, amphitheater, and public restrooms are also available.
Skyland is open late March through November.
